Precise estimation of dodecylbenzenesulfonate in aqueous solution containing dissolved organic matter extracted from soil using UV‐spectrometry

Precise estimation of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBS) is essential for understanding its adsorption in soils, transport, toxicity, fate, and application the remediation contaminated soil groundwater. DBS can be easily identified by conjugated double bond systems benzene rings under ultraviolet (UV) spectrum a spectrophotometer. However, group components dissolved organic matter (DOM) also absorb light UV spectrum, this effect responsible excess quantities that are falsely measured spectrophotometers. This study was conducted to propose method accurately measuring concentration solution containing DOM. To elucidate influence DOM during UV-spectroscopic measurement an aqueous solution, 222.5 nm 400 UV–vis spectra were measured. The extracted from highly humic non-allophanic volcanic ash (Andosol) using 1 mmol NaCl/L 100 solutions as extractants. absorbances at both increased proportion increase concentration. relationship between two different wavelengths could expressed linear relationship.
